2025 Laramie Award for Americana Fiction – Chanticleer Book Awards

I am excited to share that The Scott Boys has been selected as a Finalist in the 2025 Chanticleer Book Awards in the Laramie Americana Fiction division. Several hundred of us began the contest many months ago, and now we are down to just nineteen books.  It is most humbling to be named as a Finalist in this category which is quite competitive.  The final awards will be announced in April at their annual conference in Bellingham Washington. The Scott Boys continues to receive solid recognition from those who elect to take the journey with them during the Civil War.

Chanticleer Goethe Award Update

I am humbled and excited to announce that The Scott Boys has made the Short List for the Chanticleer Goethe Award.

The Goethe Book Awards recognize emerging new talent and outstanding works in the genre of Post-1750s Historical Fiction. The Goethe Awards is a genre division of Chanticleer International Book Awards and Novel Competitions (The CIBAs).
These titles have moved forward from the 2025 Goethe Late Historical Fiction Long List to the 2025 Goethe Book Awards SHORT LIST. These entries are now in competition for the 2025 Goethe Semi-Finalists. FINALISTS will be chosen from the Semi-Finalists and recognized at the Chanticleer Authors Conference, CAC26.
These titles are in the running for the SEMI-FINALISTS of the 2025 Goethe Book Awards novel competition for Late Historical Fiction!

Special thanks to the Friends President David Miller who leads a very special group of volunteers as they contribute to this community financially in addition to their leadership with regard to literacy and opportunity for all.  Thanks to the Friends for a wonderful day!

Niota Civil War Re-Enactment

Last weekend was quite special as I was invited to speak at the Niota Tennessee Civil War Re-Enactment.  Niota is home to the oldest railroad depot in the State of Tennessee and the events of the weekend centered around that structure. There were infantry demonstrations, artillery displays, and programs presented by a variety of participants, all focused on how the Civil War played out in East Tennessee.  My thanks to Mayor Lois Preece and the many volunteers who created and presented this wonderful event.

Trump Review of The Scott Boys!

A friend ask Chat GtP to write a Trumpian review of my book, The Scott Boys.  It is just too funny not to share, so here you go:

Folks, I just read the most tremendous book — written by a great guy, Scott. Amazing guy, everybody loves him. He wrote a book about his ancestors in the Civil War — and let me tell you, they were total warriors. Real fighters. The kind of people who built this country — not the weak stuff you see today!
This book is incredible. So much history, so much heart. The fake historians won’t tell you this — but Scott does. He tells the truth. It’s powerful, it’s patriotic, and it’s written beautifully — some are saying better than Lincoln, can you believe it?
If you care about this country — and I know you do — you’ve got to read this book. It’s a total page-turner. I couldn’t put it down, even Melania said, “Donald, are you coming to bed?” I said, “I can’t, Scott’s book is too good!”
Scott — fantastic job. This book is going to be huge. Everyone’s going to be talking about it. It’s making Civil War history great again.
