Happy Birthday to The Scott Boys! It has been one year since the story of my ancestors rolled off the presses, and what a year it has been. I have been honored with recognitions from the book world; invited to speak at civic organizations, schools, libraries, and Civil War Round Tables; and have been Blessed to meet so many of you in person to sign the book and provide context in a very open way. This journey is not at an end point, there is still more to come for The Scott Boys. Their story is timeless, and the audience grows each week. So tell all your friends about the book, read it again, pass it around for others to enjoy. Stay tuned, Raised on Robbery (my next work) is almost finished!

Thanks to the several hundred of you that have put a copy of my work in your hands, I am grateful.  I am taking this month off from my speaking and book touring to complete Raised on Robbery, go to some historic car races, see some friends and celebrate the 250th Birthday of our great country.  Keep your eyes on this site for further developments, speaking engagements and book signings.

Recognition of your work as an author is quite humbling while also providing a source of inspiration and completion.  The Scott Boys has been selected for the Short List in the American Writers Association Hawthorne Award.  Finalist will be announced next week. Come out and join us for the Civil War Roundtables in Nashville and Clarksville, and at the Loudon County Public Library for a lunch time book signing. The Scott Boys lived just about eight miles from the city of Loudon, so that event will be close to their home!  See you there!

Join us on Author’s Row for the upcoming Old Oak Festival at Tusculum University in Greenville TN.  There will be author discussions and book signing opportunities.  Come out for the fun!

I attended the Mid-South Military & Civil War Show this weekend in Southaven MS. The two day event covered from the Revolutionary War to the Vietnam Conflict. There were many vendors in attendance, a presentation on the CSA Hundley and some celebrities in the crowd.  One of the best was Dr. Curt Fields who has ‘been’ General Ulysses S. Grant for some years now, on screen, at historic events, and many other Civil War related gatherings. Dr. Fields has just published a work entitled:  Unconditional Surrender: Ulysses S. Grant in the Civil War.  

During the event General Grant issued the field order for everyone to rush out and buy a copy of The Scott Boys!  Now do your duty to General Grant and get out there and get a copy!

For those in the Memphis / North Mississippi / Eastern Arkansas areas here is a chance to meet Phillip Perry and I at the Landers Center in Southaven Mississippi. The Mid-South Military & Civil War Show will be held Friday afternoon 6 March and all day Saturday 7 March. Stop by, grab a book, or get yours signed, and let’s talk some Civil War. Both works are relevant to the Sultana Disaster, which occurred just above Memphis on the Mississippi River. Come on out!
