Direct Orders from General Ulysses S. Grant

I attended the Mid-South Military & Civil War Show this weekend in Southaven MS. The two day event covered from the Revolutionary War to the Vietnam Conflict. There were many vendors in attendance, a presentation on the CSA Hundley and some celebrities in the crowd.  One of the best was Dr. Curt Fields who has ‘been’ General Ulysses S. Grant for some years now, on screen, at historic events, and many other Civil War related gatherings. Dr. Fields has just published a work entitled:  Unconditional Surrender: Ulysses S. Grant in the Civil War.

During the event General Grant issued the field order for everyone to rush out and buy a copy of The Scott Boys!  Now do your duty to General Grant and get out there and get a copy!

Mid-South Military & Civil War Show

For those in the Memphis / North Mississippi / Eastern Arkansas areas here is a chance to meet Phillip Perry and I at the Landers Center in Southaven Mississippi. The Mid-South Military & Civil War Show will be held Friday afternoon 6 March and all day Saturday 7 March. Stop by, grab a book, or get yours signed, and let’s talk some Civil War. Both works are relevant to the Sultana Disaster, which occurred just above Memphis on the Mississippi River. Come on out!

Dalton / Chickamauga Civil War Show

Next weekend, Saturday 7 February and Sunday 8 February, come on out to the Dalton / Chickamauga Civil War show at the Dalton Convention Center.  Drop by and visit, pick up a copy of The Scott Boys and get it autographed.  I look forward to seeing you there!  Alongside will be fellow author Phillip Anthony Perry with his work about the events at the end of the Civil War. Join us!

2025 Laramie Award for Americana Fiction – Chanticleer Book Awards

I am excited to share that The Scott Boys has been selected as a Finalist in the 2025 Chanticleer Book Awards in the Laramie Americana Fiction division. Several hundred of us began the contest many months ago, and now we are down to just nineteen books.  It is most humbling to be named as a Finalist in this category which is quite competitive.  The final awards will be announced in April at their annual conference in Bellingham Washington. The Scott Boys continues to receive solid recognition from those who elect to take the journey with them during the Civil War.

Chanticleer Goethe Award Update

I am humbled and excited to announce that The Scott Boys has made the Short List for the Chanticleer Goethe Award.

The Goethe Book Awards recognize emerging new talent and outstanding works in the genre of Post-1750s Historical Fiction. The Goethe Awards is a genre division of Chanticleer International Book Awards and Novel Competitions (The CIBAs).
These titles have moved forward from the 2025 Goethe Late Historical Fiction Long List to the 2025 Goethe Book Awards SHORT LIST. These entries are now in competition for the 2025 Goethe Semi-Finalists. FINALISTS will be chosen from the Semi-Finalists and recognized at the Chanticleer Authors Conference, CAC26.
These titles are in the running for the SEMI-FINALISTS of the 2025 Goethe Book Awards novel competition for Late Historical Fiction!

Friends of Williamson County Library Speech

I was honored to be the guest speaker at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Friends of Williamson County Library.  It was a great turnout allowing me to meet so many new fans of The Scott Boys. Special thanks to the Friends President David Miller who leads a very special group of volunteers as they contribute to this community financially in addition to their leadership with regard to literacy and opportunity for all.  Thanks to the Friends for a wonderful day!
